We kept Naomi's first birthday party pretty simple.
presents. bubble machine. friends. cake.
It was a perfect, perfect evening. We just love this little girl with every piece of our hearts.

The cake was a wee bit of a birthday disaster..BUT it was made with love. So that is what counts. Cache had very strong opinions about how this cake should be made. And kept letting me know that it looked NOTHING like the picture I was attempting to copy.

HINT: don't use store bought frosting when trying to do layers. The top layers will be left on the counter or floor before the cakes even done being made, forcing you
salvage pieces of fondant that survived the whole falling apart process or weren't eaten by munchkins then throw some sprinkles at it...

It's just the kind of girl she is. Take charge ;)

Your cake turned cute! I take AT LEAST half the blame that it didn't turn out the way you wanted. Sorry I told you that store bought frostng would be ok:(

Oh, what an adorable birthday girl. She is so delicious. For what it's worth, I think the cake is adorable, don't let Cache's comments discourage your efforts, he is just at that age, you know:) I want/need to talk to you but I didn't get your phone number via e-mail.:( Love you.

That is so funny that you mentioned the cake because before I saw what you said and after I'd seen it in the picture I thought, "That is the cutest cake I've ever seen-totally want to copy it if I ever have a girl!" So apparently, you are your own worst critic! (: I love it. It's always the imperfections that make it perfect and it's just darling.
Naomi is a super cute little girl and I can't believe she's one already! It so flies by! You did a great job ont he party-it looks awesome!

How cute! She is so adorable. And hello! I think your cake is so cute! I love all your pictures. What kind of camera do you have? And what program do you use for editing? Next time you're passin' through AZ you should stop and take our family pictures :)

Your first picture of the park/party is so awesome - they all are - you have a really nice feel for what you shoot... but that first one looks like something from a Martha Stewart Magazine or something - just the light, the perspective, the object positioning. I can totally see that picture looking so ordinary if shot differently. I love to see your work!

Well I think the cake looks fabulous! I have a great respect for the women who attempt fancy cakes. For me it's usually a box mix. :) Happy 1st to Naomi! The party looked so fun!
