taking skills tonight on her little boy.
I need sleep but i couldn't help but play with a couple of pictures before i go off to beddy bie.
There wasn't that "sweet light" this evening, and I know i've broken probably 20 photography rules, that I can't remember from skimming a photography book once. I would LOVE advice from anyone that can give me some. I know there is like a 1/3rds rule and a rule about amputating hands and such, but i don't really get it AND can anyone explain to me how to get the picture more CRISP? I love these pics of Krewbie, but it kills me because i could see all these other good shots that i just couldn't make my camera create. I don't know how to use my camera and i get so uptight and frustrated about it. Advice advice, anyone everyone. anyway. It was still fun. And Krew's blond curls and blue eyes are to die for. I'll get these to you asap Daniele. Maybe we should take more. It was so fun and I want to try again to get some more creative clear pictures.

what kind of camera do you have? That makes a big difference on the ability to get the more crisp shots. Check out Maggie Holmes blog if you haven't, she gives tons of answers to questions and advice that I've used. The amputating rule {as far as I know} is not to cut off at any joint areas {ankle, knee, elbow, etc.}, but other than that, anything goes!
I think you do a great job and those are awesome pictures. And above all else, your style is YOURS and that's what counts! Don't let any "rules" stop you from taking a photo you may end up loving more than the rest! I can't wait to see you continue learning and growing in this hobby. I know it's a passion of mine!

I think you are awesome! I wish we could hang out everyday and you could take all kinds of candid shots of my kiddos. By the way, is there any chance that you guys will be in UT mid August would there? I miss you!

Thanks for posting that clip, that was awesome I have a secret love for Garth brooks anyway and that mans voice was incredible. Seriously, God gives certain people some incredible talents! And um PS one of yours in taking pictures. I dont have any advice to offer but I love to see every post. I look back at your older pictures which are great too, but you are getting better and better. Im sure you;ll find some answers from someone about amputating arms etc but you are doing great and I love to see your progression. Amie youre great!!!

from my best understanding, clarity, sharpness, exposure and A GOOD LENS all work together to make good pictures great. It's an issue that becca and i have been battling with a bit lately, and i think it's time for her and me to consider purchasing a new lens. Of course, a good lens and a good camera do nothing for someone who doesn't know what to do with them, but it's plain to see you've got the eye, the knack and, more importantly, the desire.
i agree with the earlier poster who said something about not considering every tiny rule when it comes to making a great picture, although there are some things to try to do/not do...
We should all hang out some time and practice shooting. Some good friends of mine in the STL stake would probably be interested too; they're constantly looking to improve on their photo skills and to get to know their camera better.
hang in there. i know the frustration that comes when you can't get the camera to do what you want it to...
