A picture from our backyard

Photobucket

Naomi is the only one with cute enough undies to dry on line. The rest of ours have to settle for the bar stools in our Kitchen, so until our dryers repaired.(In 2-3 weeks) Please don't think us rude if we take more than a few minutes to answer the door.
We gotta hide our skivvies!

Side note: (Or I should say side blessing) Our electric bill will hopefully be much cheaper, we are way more careful about wearing aprons in the kitchen and using napkins at the dinner table(instead of our pant legs). So manners are improving. We somehow magically create less laundry than before. And I never realized that how quickly it dries on the line. Seriously 20 minutes guys. Faster than the dryer! wwwhat? And every time I go out at night to hang our bring in laundry, our neighbor gives me tomatoes from his tomato plant. It's actually been quite lovely. I'm totally feeling all pioneerish.

I can now better relate to one of my favorite poems:

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.
The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

I've heard and always loved the last few phrases of that poem, but I had actually never heard the entire poem! How sweet and fun-thanks for posting it. We always love seeing your photos too! Wish you lived closer, so our kids could play together.

I used to line dry all of our clothes, yes even the under garment type, when we lived in the trailer because the dryer would cause the trailer to heat up to unbearable temperatures...I always felt so thrifty! Zana had her baby on Monday night...Thomas James.

my sweet pioneer niece, amazing what we will do when we have to. The new home we moved into has a clothes line.I am loving it - taking advantage of line dried sheets. Falling asleep on sweet Montana wind blown sheets. There's nothing like it.
